Jaguar returns to the world of racing cars ... Electric!

Jaguar decided to return to the racing world, but through the Formula I electric racing portal. Why

this decision, and why it is an excellent step for Jaguar and the automotive world?

Jaguar is not a new name in the world of motor racing. Jaguar's record includes many victories, most notably on the world's most famous race track, the 24-hour Le Mans race. But Jaguar has retired in the last two decades, with the exception of her entry, the days of her Ford ownership, briefly Formula One world, before Ford decided to pull out. But the company decided today to return to the world of racing cars, but through a new portal, is the Formula E electric racing. Why this decision, and why it is good for the automotive industry in general, and for Jaguar in particular?
The Formula One World Championship is now entering its third season, with 20 cars racing on circuitry in cities in the world's largest cities, from Hong Kong, through Paris and Monaco to New York. The races themselves are exciting, and the championships during their first two seasons have been settled only on their last tour. But the third season in Hong Kong and the coming two seasons are even more exciting, with Jaguar entering the line as a formal team alongside Renault, with a larger Audi team and BMW announcing their alliance with one of the teams. Fifth, to confirm rumors about their intention to enter the tournament officially.
Let's first know what the Formula One race is. As is evident from its name, the Formula One racing series is a one-seat sedan race that is similar in principle to Formula One cars, but replaces the traditional engines and hybrid system with fully electric motors. That is, cars rely on batteries completely without a conventional engine.

This is not the only difference. Formula One cars are not produced by teams, at least not fully. The Valshei, or the base of the car, specifically the front section behind the driver to the front, is all-team, and is produced by Dalarra, the famous racing car manufacturer. But the back section, under the cover, varies from team to team. Now that the cars are very similar in season one, each team designs a kinetic energy recovery system, a transformer and electric motors, as well as a gearbox and rear suspension. In other words, everything related to batteries specified by the regulators, which generate energy up to 200 kW, or equivalent to about 250 horsepower.
This figure may seem modest compared to the Formula One or the WEC, which easily exceeds the 700 horsepower barrier. But we must not forget that these vehicles are not Balthagalh (minimum weight it is 800 kg) and electric motors, unlike conventional gasoline engines or diesel, do not need any time to provide maximum determination, and thus the acceleration of cars is excellent, with up to a speed of 100 km / h in about 2.7-3.0 seconds, and on the specific Michelin tires, which provide Bokhadad can even use the same frame when it rains. Its top speed is defined at 225 km / h.
But why is Jaguar involved in this tournament? It may seem strange to some, especially since Jaguar does not produce electric cars. It does not even produce hybrid cars. But, as Jaguar officials seem to be planning in the long term. If the world of the automobile industry is moving towards electric motors, why wait in complex technology competitions, and very expensive, while you can go to the target immediately, in a tournament governed by laws that limit the costs?

The truth is that Jaguar, like any other car company, is looking at producing electric cars. The participation in the tournament, despite the difference between them and the techniques of commercial production cars, only the goal is to gain experience in areas such as cooling batteries and electric motors, restoring kinetic energy and most importantly, programming electronics to provide the best performance for these engines. Where will these engines be located? In Jaguar cars, very soon. It seems that the British company will offer its first electric cars soon, as we understood from the team officials during the Hong Kong race, the first round of the championship this year.

The first race was not easy for the team. It suffered from some of the problems that led to the withdrawal of one of its cars, led by Mitch Evans, while the race did not, with some accidents and safety car entrance, the second driver Adam Carroll to reach a position better than the 12th. The start may seem disappointing, but the fact is that the performance of the car looks good, especially in terms of maintaining energy levels.
The next race will take place in Marrakech in the Kingdom of Morocco. There is no doubt that Jaguar will gradually raise its cars to compete for the championship. But the British cheetah may be looking further, specifically to equip his car to compete during the coming seasons. Nothing will prove the position of the Jaguars against the Germans, more than the victory in the fields of races. With the trio, Mercedes, BMW and Audi coming in over the next few years, we may see a real struggle for victory. A conflict will be reflected on the car technology that we will drive every day ... soon.
